Sidhu Moose Wala Massacre: Mansa court sent gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to 7-day remand of Punjab Police on Wednesday morning. Bishnoi is the prime accused in the murder of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Mansa Court today in the murder case.

Bishnoi was taken to Punjab after Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Tuesday allowed Punjab Police to arrest gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and also allowed a transit application of Punjab Police.

Punjab Police had sought remand of 10 days, but Mansa court had given remand of only 7 days to the gangster. Bishnoi will be kept at the Punjab Police’s Special Staff Police Station, Kharar, Mohali, during his police remand.

During the hearing, Advocate Vishal Chopra, appearing for Lawrence Bishnoi, opposed the application of the Punjab Police, saying that there was a security threat. There are apprehensions that Lawrence Bishnoi may be “terminated” if given transit remand.

Bishnoi’s lawyer said that we are not opposed to virtual inquiry and investigation. “We are opposing his physical transit remand to Punjab. The Punjab Police can arrest him in the case if needed, but only in Delhi,” he said.

Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead on 29 May by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district of Punjab. The incident happened a day after Punjab Police withdrew the security of 424 others.
