Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents used to tell him not to write songs on gun culture: Gurdas Maan Specific

Speaking exclusively to India Today, singer Gurdas Mann said that the parents of late Sidhu Moose Wala used to advise him to write songs on subjects other than gun culture.

According to legendary playback singer Gurdas Maan, Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents used to ask him not to write songs on gun culture.

“When you become an idol for the youth, they start doing the same thing. His parents used to explain this to him. Her father told me that he used to ask her to write songs on other subjects. But Sidhu Moose Wala said that when he tried to write a song on his mother, no one listened. Whenever someone said something about him, he would write a song to take revenge. This was liked by his fans. His mind worked that way,” Gurdas Mann said in an exclusive interview with India Today.

Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala shot dead on Sunday. Canadian gangster Goldie Brar has claimed responsibility for the murder. The death of the young artist has left his fans and the Punjabi music world in shock.

Speaking on the murder, Gurdas Maan said, “It is very sad. A legend has gone. I met their parents, it’s hard to see what condition they are in. We all have a sadness in our hearts. When something like this happens, other actors also start thinking how and where we will perform.

Gurdas Maan recalled a happy anecdote when his son asked him to call Sidhu Moose Wala about two years ago.

“One of his songs was just released. He sang very well. I called him and he was overjoyed. He turned on the speaker and asked his parents to talk to me. From then on, whenever I called, he would do the same. His parents used to say ‘Wow, Gurdas Maan loves you very much’. I said that not only me, the whole world loves him.”

Speaking on the threats Sidhu Moose Wala received before his death, Mann said, “When one reaches such heights of fame and success, threats surround him. Looks bad.”

Gurdas Mann said that he himself never received such threats nor was he involved in any such gang war.
