Scotland Yard officials were investigating a video of a crossbow-armed intruder arrested at Windsor Castle on Christmas Day.
The Metropolitan Police said the arrested suspect has been sectioned under the UK’s Mental Health Act after a mental health assessment and remains “under the care of medical professionals”.

In a video clip posted on The Sun website, a masked figure resembling the “Star Wars” film holds a shiny black weapon and speaks in a distorted voice.
It was reportedly followed by followers of the man’s Snapchat account 24 minutes before armed security officers arrested him near the private apartment of the 95-year-old Queen.
In a message sent to Snapchat accompanying the video, the teenager wrote: “I’m sorry for all those who have wronged or lied to me. If you’ve got this then my death is near. Please share it with someone.” Share with them and if possible, make it to the news if they are interested.”
Police are also searching a housing estate in Southampton where the suspect lived with his family.
“A 19-year-old from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of breaching a protected site or trespassing and possessing an offensive weapon,” the Met Police said in a statement.
“After searching the man, a crossbow was recovered. The man was taken into custody and underwent a mental health assessment – he has since been booked under the Mental Health Act and remains under the care of medical professionals.
“The entire circumstances of this incident are being investigated by Metropolitan Police Specialist Operations,” the statement said.
A police spokesman declined to comment on the identity of the man in the video.
The BBC reported that Buckingham Palace also declined to comment.
