Singer Billie Eilish’s address mistakenly sent to 1.78 lakh people

According to reports, an app called Citizen revealed the home address of American singer Billie Eilish to around 178,000 people.

Citizen is an American app that sends users real-time safety alerts about incidents happening around them, available in major cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago.

Following an alleged break-in at the singer’s parents’ home in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, a push notification on the app broadcast details of the incident as well as the address to users of the app. An estimated 178,000 people received the notification.

reported vice The notification was updated to state that the home belongs to popstar Billie Eilish. Later, the app changed the alert to a general street address, not specifically naming a residence.

Police later arrested the man who broke into the singer’s childhood home. According to reports, a homemaker who was not at the residence at the time of the incident received an alert that showed the man on a security camera, after which she called the police. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently investigating the matter to determine if anything was stolen from the home.
