Sivakarthikeyan is a little tired. And it looks like he has lost a lot of weight.

“It’s because of the continuous night shooting maveeran, They wanted me to lose weight for the character I am playing. Night Shoot Panni Adhuve Koranjurthu… (night shoots made me lose weight on my own),” he says with a smile.

That smile will last till Diwali, which is even more special for the star who completes a decade in the film industry this year. After many years of watching first-day-before-show screenings of his favorite matinee idols on the festive day, Sivakarthikeyan has his first Diwali release this season: Prince.

Directed by Anudeep KV, who gave 2021 telugu hits caste ratnalu, And with Thaman’s music, Prince Set in a fictional village where the people are extremely simple. “So simple they are stupid,” he says. full of song, dance and sly humour, Prince revolves around an Indian boy (played by Sivakarthikeyan) who falls in love with a British girl (played by Ukrainian actress Maria Ryboshpka).

“It will be a movie for everyone,” he says. Like most of his films, all of which are kid and family friendly. “Kids love songs and humour, and sometimes, action sequences. We try to fit all these aspects into our films. Most of the directors who come to me to pitch storylines are already aware of it, and write their storylines accordingly. Humor Prince, For example, will be harmless and will not hurt anyone.”

Also working in his favor is the fact that he usually doesn’t choose films that have too much gore. “I don’t usually favor subjects that have a lot of bloodshed, but if I ever take a film like this, I’ll make it clear so the target audience knows what they’re in for.”

A still from ‘Prince’

Sivakarthikeyan hopes Anudeep’s strength in humor – which he has perfectly displayed caste ratnalu – will appear Prince very. Is Sivakarthikeyan looking to expand his market base to non-Tamil Nadu centers as well? “Well, there is a lot of attention in the Telugu market also because of his (Anudeep) earlier success. Based on its feedback, I hope to get more releases in other language centers as well. It also depends on the release date of the film, as films in their language will obviously be given more priority in other centres.”

His film titles have also, until recently, been one-word English titles. “A single word of English for promotion on social media will make the job easier,” he says. For this film, we tried a lot of options, but most of them, which revolved around teaching and classes, were somewhat serious. Fans on Twitter usually call me ‘Prince’, so we focused on him for this film.”

with Prince, he hopes to score a hat-trick of hits. His doctor One of the biggest blockbusters of 2021, releasing just after the third wave of the pandemic, was his first release this year, leader, The cash register is ringing. “This ( doctor) has been a game-changer for me,” he says, “It was a new endeavor, but its success has now given me the confidence to take on new unique subjects.”

He is referring to the interesting line-up of his films – besides Princewith him maveeran, a fictional subject, and ayalan, a science-fiction flick, lined up. All these are being explored keeping in mind the market constraints. Because, Sivakarthikeyan is now a ‘Bankable’ star who commands a sure draw at the box office. Is that pressure? “I don’t see it that way,” he explains, “if I’m doing something very unique, I also need to look at the elements inside it that will draw people to theatres. I’m going through my passion alone. Can’t do the film for it… there’s business and a lot of money on it.”

Ten years ago, when he turned actor after being a successful TV anchor, Sivakarthikeyan was primarily known for his witty one-liners and comic timing. Today, the audience not only sees him but also his dance moves and emotional sequences. He describes himself as an ‘entertainer’. He said, ‘Earlier everyone who met me used to say that they liked my comedy. Today he says that I entertain him with my films. They seem to like all aspects rather than just humour. Recently, during a trip to Hyderabad, someone mentioned that they cried watching the emotional climax sequence leader, I see it as an evolution.”
