Police on Thursday arrested six persons in connection with the gang rape of an 18-year-old girl student in Nizamabad city.
Three men sexually assaulted the woman at a hospital where renovation work was underway while she was in a “drunk” state.
Nizamabad Police Commissioner Kartikeya said that after receiving a ‘Dial 100’ call at around 1.50 am on Wednesday morning, a police team reached the spot and found the victim in a semi-conscious state and admitted her to the hospital.
During interrogation, the woman said that she had gone to meet her male acquaintance in Nizamabad on September 28 and both decided to eat and drink. Three of his friends also joined him. Later, the four accused took her to the hospital, where two more people joined her.
She said that taking advantage of her state of intoxication, three of them sexually abused her.
Based on the woman’s statement, a case was registered under relevant IPC sections and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act and all the six accused were arrested during investigation and produced before a court, police said. from where he was sent on judicial remand. .
