Smartphones have become an inseparable part of our lives. Like an organ, people depend on it for routine and multitasking. Smartphone makers compete with each other every year to bring out the best smartphones in terms of specifications and try to justify them with honest pricing. People chose them based on their needs and most importantly, how much their pockets allow. The year 2021 saw some major smartphone launches despite the slowdown in the world economy.

Based on the region and budget, people preferred these smartphones in the year 2021:

apple iphone 13

The trillion dollar company launched its 13th generation iPhones in September 2021. The most sought after phones came in four versions; iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The US-based iPhone maker made some changes to the design of the phone but overall they remained the same as the previous generation iPhones. The iPhone 13 series has an A15 Bionic chip, a standard 12MP selfie camera, and the 13 and 13 mini have 12MP + 12MP dual lenses. Nevertheless, the iPhone remains an aspiration for buyers in India. We can see Apple launching the SE variant early next year to cater to the Indian buyers.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

The South Korean electronics major launched the Galaxy S21 Ultra in the premium segment. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra sports a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 1440×3200 pixels resolution, 1500 nits peak brightness and supports HDR10+. The refresh rate of the display is 120Hz. The premium flagship smartphone came with Snapdragon 888 paired with 12GB of RAM as standard. The phone runs on Android 11 and will soon start getting Android 12. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a quad-camera setup for photography. The main lens is 108MP with a 10MP telephoto sensor, the third lens is also a 10MP shooter and the fourth sensor is of 12MP which is an ultra-wide lens. The S21 Ultra has a 40MP selfie lens.

oneplus nord 2 pac man

OnePlus strengthened its Nord segment with the launch of the Pac-Man Edition phone. Nord 2 Pac-Man comes from Japan in collaboration with Bandai Namco, the creator of the Pac-Man game. The special edition smartphone came with 12GB of RAM and was uniquely designed back in time to make an impact in the smartphone market. Pac-Man was packed with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset with 256GB ROM. The phone has a triple camera setup. The main lens of 50MP comes with two other sensors of 8MP and 2MP. It has a 32MP selfie camera.

Nord 2 Pac Man sports a 6.43-inch punch hole display with 90Hz refresh rate.

The Indian smartphone maker launched its first 5G smartphone and became the first indigenous company to do so. Lava launched Agni 5G to compete with Chinese smartphone players. Lava Agni 5G flaunts a 6.78-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate. The Agni 5G was launched with MediaTek Dimensity 810 paired with 8GB of RAM. It runs on stock Android 11. The phone has a massive 5,000mAh battery.

In optics, the Lava Agni 5G sports a quad-camera setup with a 64MP main lens along with a 5MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP macro and a second 2MP bokeh lens. Agni 5G has a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

JioPhone Next

Reliance dares to launch JioPhone Next on Diwali this year. The smartphone market was really taken aback by the packaging of JioPhone Next. The Mukesh Ambani-owned company introduced a new OS called Pragati OS in JioPhone Next developed jointly by Reliance and Google. Qualcomm also joined to provide the QM 215, an entry-level chipset for the JioPhone Next. The smartphone was launched with an average 5.45-inch display with 60Hz refresh rate. For photography, JioPhone Next has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie lens. Another low was its 3,500mAh battery. The phone has 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

To everyone’s surprise, Reliance fixes the price of JioPhone Next 6,499.
