New Delhi: Delhi High Court (HC) issued summons on Friday Congress leaders JaiRam Ramesh, Pawan Khera and Netta D’Souza filed a civil defamation suit filed by Union Minister Smriti Irani, Irani’s trial had sought damages of over Rs 2 crore for “baseless” allegations against her and her daughter.
Justice Mini Pushkarna asked Congress leaders to remove tweets, retweets, posts, videos and photos posted on the issue from social media platforms.
Confirming the development in the case related to running an ‘illegal’ bar in Goa, Jayaram said he would present the facts before the court and challenge the alleged ‘spin’ given by Irani in the matter.

A tweet by the senior Congress leader read, “We look forward to presenting the facts before the court. We will challenge and refute the spin being cast by Ms. Irani.”

The court also said that if the defendants fail to comply with the orders within 24 hours, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube will remove it.

The Congress demanded Irani’s sacking, alleging that her daughter was running an “illegal” bar in Goa, while the minister claimed that her outspoken stance in the National Herald-linked “at the behest of the Gandhi family”. malicious” was alleged. money laundering case and vowed to fight back.
