Snake swallows two golf balls mistaking them for eggs, gets stuck in the fence

The golf balls were causing a serious blockage in the snake’s intestines.

A snake in the United States recently had to be rescued because it mistook a pair of golf balls for a chicken egg, ate them both and got stuck in a fence. Giving information about the incident on Tuesday, the Northern Colorado Wildlife Center said that staff members were called to help the crawling snake after it got stuck in the fence.

“Well, we don’t see this every day. Our team was called in to help out this bullsnake, who got stuck in a fence after swallowing two golf balls inside a chicken coop; it gave him an edible chicken.” Was mistaken for eggs,” the center wrote in a Facebook post. He also shared photographs, which showed how golf balls bulged at certain points along the snake’s body.

In the caption, the wildlife center said that once staff retrieved the reptile, they found that golf balls were causing severe blockages in the snake’s intestines. Then he started the slow process of helping the snake using special techniques. “In total, it took Kate and Michaela about 30 minutes to complete the slow, meticulous process,” Kendra said.

“These golf balls were causing a serious GI blockage within the snake, and it was imperative that they were removed quickly and safely to avoid having to perform surgery.”

Another image shows a pair of golf balls after being pulled from a snake. Wildlife officials said that so far, the reptile is doing “very well”, and has caused only minor soreness and widespread damage. “Of course, it was hungry, and has already eaten a small meal from us.”

Snakes play an important role in maintaining balance in the ecosystem. They help control prey populations such as rodents whose numbers can grow rapidly in the absence of these reptiles. There are over 3,500 species of snakes, of which only 600 are actually venomous.
