Authorities have ordered an inquiry following a complaint by some beneficiaries of social security pension schemes at Narasayapalem village near Yeragondapalem in Prakasam district on January 1 (Sunday).

Beneficiaries, residents of Narasaipalam Scheduled Caste Colony, alleged that they were denied essential commodities when they gave currency notes received as social security pension. He is said to have returned 38 fake notes in the denomination of ₹500 to a village volunteer, who in turn handed them over to the panchayat secretary.

Beneficiaries complained that they received one to three counterfeit notes each, leaving them very disappointed. Officials are probing how the fake notes got into the cash withdrawn from the bank for disbursement of social security pension.
