Indian pacer Mohammed Shami believes the visiting team will need to take at least a 400-run lead before they can declare their second innings in the ongoing first Test against South Africa. India may have lost to Mayank Agarwal at the end of stumps, but the visitors finished the third day of the first Test against South Africa in the driver’s seat on Tuesday. India bundled out South Africa for 197 in the third session, before the hosts lost Mayank’s wicket minutes before the end of the game. Shardul Thakur, KL Rahul took India to 16/1 at stumps to take a 146-run lead.

“Two days are left in the Test match, I think we should bat the maximum time tomorrow. If we score around 250 runs and set a target of around 400 runs for South Africa, we can give South Africa four runs to bat. Sessions. But for that we need at least 350 or 400 odd runs.”

In the third session on Tuesday, India bundled out South Africa for 197 runs in the first innings to take a 130-run lead, with Shami taking five wickets. Shami also completed 200 Test wickets as Indian bowlers dominated.

The right-arm pacer credits his success in the longest format of the game to his father and hard work.

Shami said, “No player ever imagines what he can do in future. Your aim or dream is to play for India, hard work is your hand and if you work hard you get the result you want. “

“I want to give credit to my father for my success. I am from a village where there is no facility and my father used to send me 30 km away from our village to play cricket. My father and brother supported me. And I am here only because of them,” he signed off.
