After the four-day warm-up match ends, both England and South Africa will face each other in a three-match Test series starting on 17 August at Lord’s in London. The second match starts on 25 August at Old Trafford in Manchester, while the teams will return to London for the third game which is set to begin on 8 September at the Kennington Oval.

Both teams enter the Test series by playing six white-ball matches. While the three-match ODI series between them ended in a 1–1 draw when rain spoiled the deciding game, the multiple-match T20I series saw South Africa win 2–1 despite losing the opener. .
