SP chief Akhilesh sang another tune: ‘Samajwadi issues will run on loudspeakers in UP’

Amid the ongoing controversy, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav announced that party workers would inform people about “real issues” like inflation, unemployment, law and order through loudspeakers.

The SP chief tweeted a video of SP workers from Varanasi playing the song ‘Mehengai Dayan’ from the film Peepli Live on a rooftop loudspeaker.

Yadav wrote in his tweet, “We will run socialist issues on loudspeakers and raise our voice against inflation, unemployment and law and order.”

Yadav also tweeted a 2 minute 20 second video of SP worker Ravikant Vishwakarma, in which he can be seen saying: “Today the main issue in the country is inflation, unemployment, education, health and security. Azaan and aarti playing on loudspeakers is not an issue; Some people are trying to deviate from the original problems. But socialists like us will always raise questions. I have put a loudspeaker on my terrace and I will keep reminding people around me about the real issue through mehendi songs.”

Earlier on Sunday, Yadav had attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over the health infrastructure in the state. In a statement, the SP chief said: “Health services have collapsed in Uttar Pradesh. During the time of the BJP government, the people were left at the mercy of God during the Corona crisis. There is no sign of improvement even today. The poor are dying due to lack of treatment. The situation is getting worse during the summers.”

Patients are facing problems due to non-availability of medicines in the government hospital of Deoria, while in Kannauj patients are crying for drinking water. Not a single unit of negative blood group is left in the blood bank of district hospital of Kannauj. Patients have to travel long distances from Kanpur and Lucknow for blood. Due to shortage of anaesthetists in Siddharth Nagar, treatment is being interrupted.

Yadav alleged that even in the Agra Medical College, the investigation of patients is stalled. Despite all the instructions in the capital Lucknow, there has been no significant improvement. In some places patients are not getting stretchers and wheelchairs, while in other places doctors are not available. Many patients have died on stretchers.”

The SP chief said, “The truth is that the BJP government is friendly to only a few capitalists. There is a flaw in both the policy and intention of the BJP. Private expensive nursing homes and hospitals are on the rise, while the poor are falling prey to mismanagement in government hospitals.
