Kanpur: Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki on Tuesday demanded a separate room for Namaz in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
The SP MLA said, “I wrote to Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit to allot prayer rooms for Muslim assemblies. Puja is also necessary and assembly sessions are also necessary. Solanki said that during most of the proceedings Assembly, they have to leave the session midway to offer namaz in mosques outside and a lot of time is wasted in this.
Solanki said, “During the assembly session, public demands can be discussed, so there should be a separate prayer hall where prayers can be offered.”
He said that no one will be troubled by making a place for worship in the assembly.
Solanki said it should have happened long ago.
He said that he is confident that his demand will be taken care of.
This statement has come at a time when assembly elections are going to be held in the state next year.
Earlier in Jharkhand a separate room has been allotted for Namaz. However, the opposition BJP Opposed the Speaker’s decision.
An order has been issued by the Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly to allot a room for Namaz.
