Kanpur: Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki on Tuesday demanded a separate room for Namaz in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
The SP MLA said, “I wrote to Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit to allot prayer rooms for Muslim assemblies. Puja is also necessary and assembly sessions are also necessary. He said that no one will be troubled by making a place for worship in the assembly.
Solanki said it should have happened long ago.
He said that he is confident that his demand will be taken care of.
This statement has come at a time when assembly elections are going to be held in the state next year.
Earlier in Jharkhand a separate room has been allotted for Namaz. However, the opposition BJP Opposed the Speaker’s decision.
An order has been issued by the Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly to allot a room for Namaz.
