Speaker of Lok Sabha, Chairman of Rajya Sabha invited to ‘Chintan Shivir’ of Council of Ministers

Official sources said that a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers will be held on Wednesday in the next session of Parliament and a special invitation has been sent to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He said this would be the last ‘Chintan Shivir’, in which a series of deliberation sessions are being organized to help the ministers understand the issues of governance better.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been organizing these sessions to make governance and its delivery system more effective and efficient. These meetings also act as an orientation program for newly inducted ministers in the Union Cabinet.

The last ‘Chintan Shivir’ will be on Parliamentary Practices and the upcoming session. Sources said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi is expected to make a presentation, and special invitations have been sent to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to attend the meeting.

In the first meeting, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Mansukh Mandaviya gave a presentation on personal efficiency. This was followed by a presentation on focused implementation of the projects by Piyush Goyal and Gajendra Shekhawat.

In the third ‘Chintan Shivir’ a presentation was made by Hardeep Puri and Mansukh Mandaviya on the participation of the Ministry and the stakeholders. The fourth presentation was on communication, and was given by Union Ministers Anurag Thakur and Smriti Irani.

A senior official involved in the conception of these deliberation sessions suggested that the overarching objective of the Prime Minister behind the exercise was to take governance to the next level by expediting decision making and taking delivery on the ground.
