The decision to postpone the ICSE and ISC board exams was announced through an official
circular Yesterday A lot of teachers are speculating that CISCE was under pressure to follow in the footsteps of CBSE, as CBSE recently announced its examinations to start from 30th November 2021. But we have learned that the reasons are more sophisticated and technical in nature.
Our sources spoke to Gary Arathoon’s office (Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE) to confirm the new dates. Some key points to note about the internal developments and their causes:
1. Though it was not officially confirmed but new exam dates are expected
Starting around the first week of December on one’s own.
2. The official new datesheet for ICSE and ISC will probably be announced by
next week, it is proposed.
3. Earlier, the exams were asked to be online from home (Most student submissions received by CISCE were in favor of online plus home based exams).
4. CISCE confirms a nationwide training program for proctors and super-proctors and IT support executives was to begin this week (with each proctor responsible for supervising 25 students on screen). That program has now been cancelled.
5. ICSE
also changed Few days back paper pattern of some subjects (new sample papers uploaded on CISCE website)
without officially notifying. in return,
a practice paper book Made available exclusively as a valuable resource on New Pattern (All Subjects) for ICSE Semester 1 Exam in association with Edukart.
6. ICSE students are advised to practice as many sample papers as possible now for Semester 1 for ICSE
from these books, in exchange for extended preparation time.
7. In many schools (after Dussehra) mock tests through laptops were about to start and they were also cancelled. This strongly indicates to move towards offline exam mode.
8. Exams Most Likely to Happen Now

9. OMR sheet practice is very important now because students have more time in hand and exam will be offline. These can probably be accessed on the new paper pattern in the last exercise provided official OMR sheet
resource material, with instructions.
10. Many schools are now advised to start pre-board in offline mode after Diwali to emulate Semester 1 board practice.
It is still not clear why such a huge drive for online vs offline examinations in CISCE started as it caused a lot of confusion. Especially when their central counterpart, CBSE, on the other hand (with 10 times more students in their remit) had already decided to conduct the exam offline.
But now ICSE and ISC board exams can be held at school centers and postponement of dates (maybe till December 2021) plus provision
