Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel has slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Daggubati Purandeshwari for his controversial “spit” remarks against him and said he never expected that his “mental state after joining the BJP would be like this”. level will fall”.

BJP general secretary Daggubati Purandeshwari had on Thursday made a controversial remark against Bhupesh Bhagel, saying that if his party workers “turn and spit”, Bhupesh Baghel and his cabinet will be “swept away”.

Addressing the gathering, Purandeshwari said, “BJP will come to power in 2023 due to your hard work… I request you to take oath. If you spit back then Bhupesh Baghel and his entire cabinet will be swept away.” Party workers in Bastar on Thursday.

Responding to Purandeshwari’s comment, Bhupesh Bhagel said, “If someone spits on the sky, he falls on his own face”.

“How should I react to such a statement? I did not expect that D Purandeswari’s mental state would drop to this level after joining the BJP. She was fine when she was with us. [Congress] As Union Minister of State…” Bhupesh Bhagel said.

Purandeswari made this statement while addressing BJP workers on the concluding day of the party’s three-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ in Bastar.

He also called upon the BJP workers to work with a resolve to bring the party to power in the state in the 2023 assembly elections.

“BJP is a party with different principles, whose workers serve the poor, destitute and helpless people with a selfless and dedicated spirit,” Purandeswari was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

“Every worker is respected in the BJP, be it from a small town or village,” the former Union minister said.

Purandeshwari further said that the wind of change has started blowing in the state from Bastar, which is a tribal dominated area. “The ruling Congress has ‘betrayed’ the people of Chhattisgarh and they will give a befitting reply to the party,” he said.

Purandeshwari had left the Congress in 2014 and joined the BJP. She was a minister in the Congress-led UPA government.
