Sri Lanka: Protesters turn down Sri Lankan PM’s offer of talks, want government to quit – Times of India

Colombo: Sri Lankaprime minister of Mahinda Rajapakse Young people reached out to the protesters on Wednesday demanding the government’s resignation, but in response social media posts rejected the offer of talks. Meanwhile, as part of its efforts to push for a proposal to abolish the working president’s post, the main opposition Samaga Jana Balvegaya (SJB) said it has proposed three resolutions to be introduced in Parliament. Meanwhile, S&P Global Ratings on Wednesday downgraded Sri Lanka’s forex rating from “CCC” to “CC” citing the economic crisis in the country and mounting external funding pressure. “CC” rating means Highly Sensitive by default. S&P said Sri Lanka is unlikely to be able to do a quick debt restructuring.
