Colombo: Sri Lanka’s new President Ranili Wickremesinghe told Parliament on Wednesday that talks with International Monetary Fund ,International Monetary Fund) will resume in August for a bailout package, as the country grapples with its worst economic crisis in decades.
“We are confident of completing the discussion successfully,” Wickremesinghe said in a speech.
Wickremesinghe succeeded his predecessor last month. Gotabaya Rajapaksafled the country and then left after massive protests over his mismanagement of the economy.
