SS Rajamouli reveals how MM Keeravani was in tears after Richard Carpenter’s ‘amazing’ gift

RRR’s Natu Natu won the Best Original Song award at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony.

Days after RRR’s Natu Natu created history at the Oscars 2023, its composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose received the ‘most amazing’ gift from The Carpenters fame Richard Carpenter. Recently, Richard put up a video on his Instagram handle, in which he is seen singing a version of ‘Top of the World’ while playing the piano. His family members also joined him.

Richard Carpenter dedicated the video to Keeravani and Chandrabose and congratulated them for the big win of Natu Natu. “To @mmkeeravani_official and @chandraboselyricist: Hearty congratulations on your win for Best Original Song. Here’s something for you and yours (sic) from our family,” read the caption of the video.

Soon after the video was deleted, MM Keeravani shared it on her Instagram stories and wrote, “This is something I didn’t expect at all. Tears welled up with happiness. The most wonderful gift from the Universe (sic).” For the unversed, even during the Oscars 2023, Keeravani sang a parody of Top of the World on stage. “I grew up listening to The Carpenters, here I am with Oscar he said.

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli also reacted to Richard’s video and shared how Keeravani burst into tears after watching it. “Sir, during this entire Oscar campaign my brother maintained a cool composure. Whether it was before winning or after he didn’t let his emotions out. But, the moment he saw it, he started rolling down his cheeks. Couldn’t control the tears..Most memorable moment for our family..Thank you so much.Ram Charan’s wife Upasana also called it ‘lovely’.
