Startup co-founder explains why doesn’t own any Apple products – short

What does earning in an Indian middle class family set up mean? No matter much how much you earn, more or less, huge part of your salary or earnings goes to the family and their responsibilities.

Now a 23 year old co-founder who earns over 1.5 lakh monthly has said that he doesn’t own any luxury items nor does he live on his own as he has responsibilities of his parents and his family’s future.

The tweet was shared by Sushrut Mishra who is a co-founder and content expert at VC Media. The company is a content creation and marketing agency which is co-founded by Sushrut Mishra and Roshan Kr Sharma.

Coming back to the tweet by Mishra, he said though he earns over 1.5 lakh a month, he doesn’t live on his own, nor does he own any Apple device or even a car or bike. Stating his reasons as, he said, “Responsibilities of an Indian son who retired his parents, pays all the bills and plans for his family’s future.”

Giving the reason as to why did he tweet about it, he said, “I want to glamourize this.”

Reacting to his tweet, users called it a truly inspiring story while some called it story of India. Some also shared their own experiences when they were 23.

One user wrote, “That’s story of India. At 23 with salary of 35K – I did the same thing (year 2011)”

Another user wrote, “Even I have all the above responsibilities but not sure why it’s stopping you to own bike and apple products,” to which he replied, “Family expenses. Sister’s education and other expenses. Investments for the future. Mumma’s medications. Savings for a home (as we still live in a village). And few other expenses which are obviously above the ‘wants’ I have.”

One user commented saying, “I understand your sense of responsibility, but it seems contradictory to say you can’t own any Apple product or car due to your responsibilities while also choosing to pay for a Twitter blue tick, which is not a necessity. Perhaps consider reevaluating your spending priorities and investing in products that align more with your values and responsibilities. Just a though.”

Another user commented saying, “Buy a bike/ scooter, great for mobility. There are literally options available on all price points. Rest may be choices but no points for trying to glamorize it.”

One user also criticised his for glamorizing this, he said, “At 18 with a salary of 10000 per month . same story but do not want to glamourize this..”

Some other said, “Setting the correct foundation is necessary first. Appreciative of you! A strong foundation is a priority. You can have all the other fun too, hope it happens soon for you”

Some other wrote, “Brother’s got his priorities straight, but let’s be clear you can do both if that’s what you want to do — all you need is more money. I’m also 23″
