Concerned over promotion of gun culture and drugs in Punjabi music videos, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has asked young singers to stop using such themes and warned of action if they continue to violate the ‘ethical’ code. Is.

The Rs 700-crore Punjabi music industry has been under scrutiny due to the release of songs and videos by popular singers that either covertly or openly propagate violence, enmity and gun culture.

“Punjab is also about rich heritage and culture, and the singers of the present have a huge following not only in the state but also among the youth across the world, they should consider abstaining from such subjects.” Bhagwant Mannu,

The Chief Minister said that glorification of violent subjects in the popular media has led to an increase in anti-social activities in the State. Mann said that Punjabi artists and their work should play a constructive role in maintaining the rich cultural heritage of the state.

“It is our main duty to dominate such singers not to encourage violence through their songs which often mutilate the youth, especially children with impressionable minds. Initially, we request them not to propagate such trends, failing which the government will be forced to take strict action against them,” Mann said.

Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar concurred with the CM, saying: “Punjab is about peace, harmony and brotherhood. These singers, who have a huge fan following among the youth, should ensure that their albums revolve around such themes instead of spreading violence.”

Punjabi music industry has produced many prominent singers like Sidhu Moosewala, Sherry Mann, Jazzy B, AP Dhillon and many more. However, a section of singers has come under fire for promoting gun culture and drugs in their songs. An FIR has been registered against Musewala for promoting albums with inflammatory themes.
