Strict measures are being taken: DC

Hassan Deputy Commissioner R. Girish has issued an order to enforce weekend curfew and other restrictions on the movement of public in the district to avoid the spread of COVID-19 infection. Occupancy in hotels and restaurants will be limited to 50% and there will be a lockdown, with a few exceptions, during the weekend.

Mr. Girish told a press conference in Hassan on Thursday that the order has been issued following the instructions of the state government. “The number of cases is increasing in the neighboring district. We cannot ignore the situation. He said that strict steps need to be taken to prevent the spread of the infection. DC has issued an order banning all political rallies, meetings and dharnas in the district.

The immunization drive has so far covered over 36,000 students, the official said. “We are one of the top five districts in the state by covering 50% in the 15-18 age group. Apart from this, we are conducting tests and tracing the contacts of the infected people to prevent the spread of the infection.” He appealed to the public to strictly follow the COVID-19 Appropriate Practices.
