Strong defense posture being maintained at LAC, says Army Chief

Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pandey said on January 15 that the Indian Army is maintaining a strong defense posture along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), and is prepared to deal with any contingency.

Addressing the 75th Army Day Parade at the MEG End Center in Bengaluru, Gen Pandey, who presented the gallantry award, said the northern border area has been peaceful and steps have been taken to maintain peace through established protocols and existing mechanisms.

Army Day celebrated on January 15 was organized outside the National Capital for the first time as part of the Government of India’s initiative to move major events away from the National Capital Region to different parts of the country.

The parade began with a wreath-laying ceremony by General Pandey at the Madras Engineering Group War Memorial. This was followed by eight marching contingents, including a military band consisting of cavalry and five regimental brass bands from the Army Service Corps.

The marching contingents were from the Madras Engineering Group, the Bombay Sappers, the Artillery Regiment, the Mahar Regiment, the Parachute Regiment and the Madras Regiment.

Weapon Systems Displayed

Various weapon systems in the inventory of the Indian Army were also displayed, including K9 Vajra Self-Propelled Gun, Pinaka Rocket, T-90 Tank, BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle, Tunguska Air Defense System, 155 mm Bofors Gun, Light Strike Vehicle, Swati radar included. and various assault bridges.

The ASC Motorcycle Display Team Tornadoes comprised of 24 motorcycles enthralled the spectators by performing stunts like Seat Sitting Balance, Arrowhead Formation, Corner Cross, Criss Cross, Inner Outer Circle, Single Scissor Cross, Tank Balance among others.

A team of six paratroopers also jumped from a Dhruv helicopter, deployed their parachutes and performed maneuvers to land.
