Strong earthquake hits Turkey Mediterranean coast – Times of India

Ankara: A strong Earthquake hit Turkish Mediterranean Coast On Tuesday, Turkey’s disaster management agency said. There were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.
The Turkish Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management said an initial magnitude 6.0 quake struck at 8.32 a.m. about 155 kilometers (96 miles) from the resort town of Kas in Antalya province.
Turkey sits on top of major faults and earthquakes occur frequently.
At least 17,000 people died in a powerful earthquake in northwest Turkey in 1999.
