Representatives of India and Singapore on Tuesday discussed best practices adopted by the two countries in the field of skills and education at a G-20 meeting here. Along with this, discussion was also held on preparing a task force for future photographs. The initiative has been taken as part of a workshop on ‘Skill Architecture and Governance Models of India and Singapore’ ahead of the third meeting of the G20 ‘Education Working Group’. According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pramukh, India is discussing best practices in the field of skilling and education with Singapore. At the same time, it is also learning how to incorporate these best practices in the Indian context to upskill students and prepare them for job needs, he said.

Pradhan said Singapore has incorporated skills in its education curriculum and is focusing on making its students job-ready and India wants to emulate the same.

The minister said, “India has technology and ‘edtech’ to respond. The future is going to be many different from today and we need to skill students from being laid off.”

This joint initiative between India and Singapore focuses on leveraging Singapore’s expertise and knowledge. At the same time, it is also focused on facilitating the sharing of learnings to remove barriers to efficiency and transformation in the Indian investment ecosystem.

The delegates are discussing the key three areas, development of new curriculum for any one of them, framework for ‘ecosystem’ for skills in higher education and mandatory placement (apprenticeship) and framework for core skills.

“India and Singapore can engage together for the welfare of the global global community,” said the premier.

“I am confident that this joint initiative delivers actionable results to create a new model of professional skills that inspires aspirational rulers and youth around the world,” he added.
