Surat: Students of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Surat, an institute of national importance has revealed the status of its upcoming campus on Twitter from Monday. The students highlighted that they have been asked to attend classes at their new campus where a tin shed currently exists. The institute started academic activity in 2017 but does not have its own campus yet.
It is to be noted that the second batch of IITS is already passed out. IITS was conducting its academic, administrative activities and hostel operations from the premises of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute (SVNIT) campus till now.
Students have been asked to join the institute on the allotted campus from August 7 kamrejo near the city. The land was identified about three years ago, but it does not have educational or hostel facilities.
“Whether the students will have to study under a shed, the institute is not responding. We are being given accommodation in a school hostel after charging the entire hostel fee of over Rs 50,000 and no food is available for some days. Will be done.” a student.
On contacting the Director of IIITS JS Bhatideclined to comment on the issue.
