Students protest against saving trees in their school

“Basavaraj Bommai sir, we came to know that the road outside our school is being widened and around 40 trees will be cut. Our seniors have struggled to fetch water for the plants, which have now become full grown trees. We also take care of the trees in our school. Engineers keep coming to our school and we are afraid that trees may be cut soon. Scores of school students on Wednesday protested against the proposed road widening, for which trees in the school grounds would be the first casualties. They had placards in their hands and stood around the trees they have been playing with for many years.

Another student pointed out that their textbooks teach lessons on protecting the environment and trees, while at the grassroots level, civic agencies have given little importance to it.
