Bollywood star Suniel Shetty has mourned the demise of Longewala battle hero Naik (retd) Bhairon Singh Rathore during the 1971 war, whom the actor played on-screen in the film. range (1997). Rathore, a BSF veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pak war whose bravery at Rajasthan’s Longewala post was depicted in JP Dutta’s hit film, died in Jodhpur on Monday. He was 81 years old.

For his gallant action, he received the Sena Medal in 1972. Rathore, who was posted in the 14th BSF battalion during the war, retired from service in 1987.
