Sunny Deol: I want to do 4-5 films a year like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn – Times of India

Sunny Deol recently started shooting Ghadri with 2 directors Anil Sharma and actress Amisha Patel, The film went on floors in the cold climate of Himachal Pradesh. The visuals of the Muhurta shot went viral on social media. Social media has been talking about Ghadar for years: a love story in different ways. While some appreciate the film’s content set at the turn of the century, some users use its dialogues and visuals to create jokes and memes.

In a conversation with Bombay Times, Sunny spoke about how she felt about the incident. The actor-filmmaker, who kept a safe distance from social media till a few months back, says, “I have become a little better at being on social media. I can only do what allows me to do what I like. I can’t post things for this. I can’t match the craziness I see on it. But I have now started posting things I love to talk about – like my parents, kids, siblings. Slowly, I will get over this too.”

In recent times, Sunny has also started actively exploring projects to work on as an actor. He has completed work on R Balki’s next film Pooja Bhatt And soon after Gadar 2, he is expected to get his Apne 2 back on track. He is also in talks for some more projects. Bring it up and he says, “A lot is happening. There’s a lot people talk about me but I’m still struggling to sign a good film. That’s the irony of our country. Me More For how many years I have to prove that I am a good actor? Things have changed a lot. I quit acting in films but now I want to do four-five films a year like Akshay Kumar And Ajay Devgn, I’m sure one of them will work. I have decided that I will do five films in a year and that will be my achievement. I have done very little work in the last 15 years. I wasted a lot of time in the interim but now I have to take my career ahead in good numbers with good films. Currently I am working on some good projects. Digital platforms have opened up a lot of things for an actor. There is an audience for everything and nothing ever goes to waste. Somebody is enjoying it. So I can try to do the same. For an actor, it is a paradise where there is no boundary, no boundary. They can choose to do whatever they want. I think some subjects are great for the big screen and some are great for the digital.”

It has been only a month since theaters opened in Maharashtra. When asked what he thinks which content will bring people back to theatres, Sunny says, “I want people to see some of our big canvas films in theaters and it has its own impact on people. A few years back, cinema had become like a picnic and no one really paid much attention to the content they saw in cinema halls. So, it is our responsibility as producers to do something that will impress people and remember them long after the film is over.”
