The incident took place on Saturday when activists of both the bodies tried to burn an effigy of the actor objecting to the song ‘Madhuban’.

The song shares some of its lyrics with the iconic ‘Madhuban Mein Radhika Naache Re’ song from the 1960 film ‘Kohinoor’.

Activists of ‘Shri Krishna Sena Sangathan’ and ‘Yuva Brahmin Mahasabha’ were stopped in action with the assurance of an FIR in this case, a police official said.

No FIR was lodged in this case till late Sunday evening.

When the activists could not burn the effigy during the protest, they crushed it under their feet.

Sanjeev Singh Baba, national president of Sri Krishna Sena Sangathan, said, “The plan to burn the effigy was withdrawn on assurance of action against the actor and producers.”

Last week, a section of priests in Vrindavan also objected to the video.

The Akhil Bharatiya Teerth Purohit Mahasabha of Vrindavan has now raised its demand and demanded action against the people behind the video produced by music label Saregama.

National president of the institution Mahesh Pathak said the producer, director and financier should also be booked for the “crime”.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra also demanded an apology from Leone and the singers of the song Sharib and Toshi and threatened them with “action”.

The minister alleged that the video has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.

Earlier in the day, Saregama issued a statement saying that it will change the lyrics of the song within three days.

The label, which released the song on its YouTube channel on December 22, said, “The new song will replace the old song on all platforms in the next 3 days.”
