Super Cities, Business, Life: India tops globally in Tholons Index

According to Tholon’s Global Business Innovation Sustainability Index (TBIS) 2023, released on February 3, India ranked second on three counts – super cities, business and life – among 10 other geographies.

Meanwhile, the country performed poorly in innovation, digital, diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and sustainability.

The index identified 10 geographies – US, India, Canada, UK, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Denmark – based on their position in Business, Life, Innovation/Digital to accelerate business and tech leadership as a pioneer. , DEI, Sustainability and Super Cities.

India scored 10 out of 10 for Super Cities, 9.67 for Business and 9.34 for Liveability, leaving behind the US and Canada in these areas, while the US, Canada, the UK and Germany scored the most in Innovation/Digital, DEI and sustainability while India scored poorly in these areas at 6.19, 5.32 and 2.50 respectively, indicating that the country has a long way to go in becoming a full-fledged global leader, according to the index.

The Tholons Index 2023 also identified 100 supercities that are currently leading the way towards a new equitable reality globally. The list includes several Indian cities of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kochi, Lucknow, Mysore, Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.
