Super political weekend in Karnataka as BJP puts on star-studded show with Modi, Congress gets Sonia Gandhi

The BJP has unleashed its full force of top campaigners in Karnataka in the last three days of the campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who are holding several rallies as well as two roadshows this weekend.

PM Modi is holding roadshows divided over two days on Saturday and Sunday with several rallies. On Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah is doing six rallies and roadshows, BJP President JP Nadda is doing three rallies, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is doing five rallies and roadshows and former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa is doing four rallies.

Apart from this, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Gajendra Shekhawat are holding several rallies on Saturday. Chief Minister BS Bommai will hold two rallies and a roadshow. Karnataka’s cine star Kiccha Sudeep is also campaigning for BJP with five rallies on Saturday.

A senior BJP leader tracking Karnataka told News18 that the party feels it has good momentum in the past week with the Prime Minister’s campaign peaking at the right time.

The BJP leader said, “Voters’ mind is made up in the last 3-4 days before voting and we are making all efforts to cover the last mile.” The leader said controversies like the Congress’s promise to ban Bajrang Dal and personal attack on the PM have become the theme of the BJP’s campaign in the last week. The senior BJP leader said, “There is a lot of enthusiasm at the Prime Minister’s rallies this week and his call of ‘Jai Bajrang Bali’ is being applauded loudly and this is a good sign.”

Congress star rally with Sonia

This weekend also has top Congress leaders in Karnataka campaigning with Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. Today at 6 pm there will be an important rally in Hubli where Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi And Mallikarjun Kharge will be present.

The two chief ministerial faces of the Congress, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, are holding several rallies over the weekend before campaigning ends on Monday.

The Congress is somewhat on the backfoot after the ‘Bajrang Dal ban’ controversy, but is trying to bring back the discussion on its anti-corruption campaign against the BJP and Congress’s five guarantees.
