Supreme Court disposed of more than 1000 cases in last one week: CJI UU Lalit

Chief Justice of India UU Lalit on Friday said the Supreme Court has disposed of over 1,000 cases in the last one week.

In an honor bestowed upon him by the Bar Council of India, the Chief Justice said the message should go to lawyers across the country that “the Supreme Court will try to settle as much as you are able to bring before the Supreme Court”. ,

Chief Justice Lalit said the court disposed of a total of 1,293 cases in four days. It wrapped up 106 regular cases and 440 transfer petitions.

The CJI was sharing the latest settlement rate given by the Secretary General of the Supreme Court in the last four days.

The CJI said, “This is the number on which we are continuously working, this is our effort, which we are trying to achieve.”

This was the first working week for Justice Lalit as the Chief Justice of India. The week saw wide-ranging changes in the list of cases, a focus on old pending cases, and more court benches hearing 50 to 60 cases each day.
