The Supreme Court on January 11 agreed to hear US tech giant Google’s plea against the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal’s (NCLAT) order refusing to grant an interim stay on imposition of ₹1,337 crore fine on the competition regulator. went.

A division bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha took note of the submissions of senior advocate AM Singhvi, appearing for the American firm, and said it would list the plea for hearing on Monday.

Why has CCI imposed multiple penalties on Google?

The senior counsel submitted that extraordinary directions have been passed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the order has to be complied with by January 19.
