Suryakumar Yadav consolidates top spot, Arshdeep Singh reaches career-best T20I rankings cricket news

In-form India batsman Suryakumar Yadav cemented his top spot in the batsmen’s list while left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh climbed to a career-best 23rd position in the bowlers’ list in the latest ICC T20 rankings released on Wednesday. Yadav, who has been in excellent form, has scored 225 runs in five matches in the ongoing T20 World Cup at a strike rate of around 200. He achieved a career-high rating of 869 points to continue as the number one batsman in the format.

In India’s last group match, Yadav smashed a 25-ball 61 as he added six points in the weekly ranking update to go 39 ahead of second-placed Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan.

Next on the list is New Zealand’s Devon Conway, who is 90 points behind Yadav, while Pakistan captain Babar Azam is seven points behind the fourth-placed Kiwis.

India’s vice-captain KL Rahul’s half-centuries against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe led him five places to 16th, while Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma are in 11th and 18th places, respectively.

In the bowling charts, with his time-bound successes making a quiet stride in Australia, Arshdeep has moved up four places to go 23rd, one ahead of his Pakistani counterpart Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, on the other hand, has moved up five places to 13th spot with Zimbabwe taking three wickets.

Meanwhile Sri Lankan mystery spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who is the leading wicket-taker of the ongoing T20 World Cup, is back as the number one bowler.

Hasaranga, who took 15 wickets during Sri Lanka’s Super 12 finish in the T20 showpiece, ended Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan’s reign at the top, which he last held at the number one spot in November last year.
