Suspected food poisoning leaves several students ill at Wayanad boarding school

An official from the Withiri police station said that more than 60 students are currently admitted to the hospital after vomiting and diarrhoea.

Several students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Lakkidi area of ​​Kerala’s Wayanad district are undergoing treatment at a local hospital for suspected food poisoning. An official gave this information on Monday.

An official from the Withiri police station said that more than 60 students are currently admitted to the hospital after vomiting and diarrhoea, the health condition of all of them is stable.

The official said the students have been admitted to the hospital since Thursday.

However, since Sunday night, a large number of school children complained of stomach problems and were taken to the hospital.

An area health official said they were collecting information about the exact number of students falling ill and the reasons for it.

There are 486 students studying in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, a government-run boarding school.
