SUV driver arrested for hitting bike rider in Delhi road rage incident

The driver of a Mahindra SUV has been arrested for hitting a biker in Delhi, the video of which recently went viral on social media, with Delhi Police taking suo motu cognizance of the matter.

The driver of a Mahindra Scorpio, who allegedly rammed a biker around Arjangarh metro station area in South Delhi, has been arrested. Recently, in a video, a Scorpio was seen hitting a biker after a brawl with a group of bikers in Delhi. The incident was recorded by a fellow rider and went viral on social media on June 5, 2022. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused and a case under section 307 of IPC has been registered at Fatehpur Beri police station. With the video going viral, the Delhi Police took suo motu cognizance of the matter and asked the bike riders to file a written complaint.


In the video, an altercation is taking place between the Mahindra Scorpio driver and the motorcycle rider. The video then sharply cuts the Mahindra Scorpio and hits the rider from the right side. The SUV picks up speed as the rider loses control and crashes into the left barricade of the road. The rider, identified as 20-year-old Shreyansh, shared the video on his social media handle and requested the support of the online community to identify and arrest the driver.

In his post, Shreyansh elaborated that he had gone for a Sunday ride with his friends when the incident happened. He claimed that the dispute was between the driver and another rider and that he was not involved in the incident. Shreyansh further said that the driver did not stop him to check. The video further shows the injuries suffered by the rider. Fortunately, he survived the injuries and there were no major injuries.
