Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the Swamitva scheme, a scheme to establish clear ownership of property, has added to the strength of the rural economy and will write a new chapter in the development of villages in the country.

Addressing an event in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh, Modi said that after successful implementation of the Swamitva scheme on pilot basis in some states, it will be implemented at the national level to ensure the development of rural areas.

“This will become an example of Gram Swaraj in the country,” he said.

SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improved Technology in Rural Areas) scheme was launched by the Prime Minister on April 24, 2020 as a central sector scheme to promote a socio-economically empowered and self-reliant rural India. Went.

The objective of the scheme is to establish clear ownership of property in rural areas by mapping land parcels using drone technology and providing a record of their rights by issuing legal ownership cards to eligible families.

Under the pilot project, the scheme was successfully implemented in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana and Karnataka. Now it will be implemented across the country to provide property cards to the people.

He said that so far property cards of more than 22 lakh families have been prepared in these states, while in Madhya Pradesh more than 1.70 lakh families have been given property cards in more than 3000 villages.

He also said that the SVAMITVA scheme will save the villagers from borrowing money from third parties and now, based on their property papers, they will get loans from banks.

The Prime Minister said that the drone, which some call “Chhota Helicopter” (small helicopter), will completely change the face of development of villages.
