Pushing the boundaries of the sport, Swedish freestyle skier Jesper Tjdar has set Guinness World The record for the longest rail slide ever. The skier slipped a record 154.49m and won the title in May this year. Having represented Sweden at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympic Games in skiing, the 28-year-old is not a novice to the sport. Tjder has also won a bronze medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and has several competitive achievements under his belt. His most recent achievement came when Tjdar broke the world record for longest rail grind skis. “I’ve done a lot of tricks on a rail before, but never near a train that long,” Tjdar told Red Bull. It took Tjder 127 years of effort and practice to master the sport and achieve such an extraordinary feat.

Tjder’s record-breaking performance was captured in a video that was later uploaded to his YouTube channel by Guinness World Records. Take a look below.

The previous record was held by American skier Tom Wallisch, who achieved 128.7m rail grind skis in 2016. According to Tjdar, Walish urged him to achieve something bigger, breaking the world record. “I thought it would be a good mission, and it sounded crazy when Tom Wallish broke the record. So, I thought I’d have to try it too,” Tjdar said.

A veteran skier, Tjder demonstrated his ability in the sport and skied on the rails for 154.49 meters on May 9, 2022. He jumped on the rails at 75 kmph at the Skeestar Resort in Ore, Sweden, breaking a world record.

Tjder shared that he had a few good attempts at first but then later managed to cover the entire distance in one go. He even credited Wallish for his new feat, saying, “Shout out to Tom Wallish for pushing the boundaries of the game, if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t have slipped this far here.”
