T20 World Cup: Mohammed Shami bowls perfectly and India enter the final stages of preparation with practice games. Cricket News – Times of India

Brisbane: Mohamed Shami Bowling at full intensity during India’s first training session at the Gabba on Sunday, ahead of Monday’s first warm-up match against England, seems to have reached near full fitness.
Shami, who arrived in Brisbane after recovering from COVID-19 and on the move, had replaced the injured Jasprit Bumrah in the squad of 15.
On Sunday, Shami had a full session with coach Rahul Dravid, welcoming him into the mix after an almost three-month lay-off.

As far as the first session is concerned, Shami seemed to be building on his rhythm as he bowled the team’s best batsman Virat Kohli for a long time. It looks like he is still trying to hit the strap and perhaps the upcoming practice matches against England and New Zealand will provide an idea about his match fitness.
There is no doubt that 80 per cent fit Shami will be more effective with his skills than a completely different kind of Harshal Patel, who was taken to the cleaners by Dinesh Karthik during a net session on Sunday.
Karthik slashed Harshal’s length balls into the imaginary deep mid-wicket area and broke a low full-toss through square leg.
However, while trying to play a lap scoop off Shami, Karthik was bowled leg stump and the Bengal pacer had a smile.
But whether Dravid and Rohit will play Shami against England or allow him two more net sessions before checking in against New Zealand on Wednesday is the big question.
The two practice matches to be broadcast across the Indian subcontinent will give everyone a clear picture of what the playing XI will be up to on October 23 against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Both Rishabh Pant and Karthik had done well in the nets but who will make it to the playing XI will probably be clear looking at the batting order of the two practice games.
Stand by pacers Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur have also reached Brisbane.
