T20 World Cup: The T20 World Cup 2022 has displayed a series of surprising and astounding results. Some of the top teams like South Africa, West Indies and Australia have been dismissed early in the marquee tournament in Australia. The Netherlands stunned the Proteas on Sunday, knocking them out of the race for the semi-finals. With their victories against the Proteas and Pakistan and India’s victory in their final Super 12 games, the Dutch side has achieved a mammoth feat in the T20 World Cup 2022.

The Netherlands team has got automatic entry into the ICC Men’s 2024 T20 World Cup to be held in the United States of America and the West Indies. The Dutch team finished fourth in the Group 2 points table with 4 points from 5 matches. They finished above Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. But their win against the Proteas was not enough and they depended on other results. Had Bangladesh not beaten Pakistan by a huge margin, the Netherlands could have been pushed to fifth place. Moreover, if Zimbabwe had also managed to beat India, the Dutch side would have failed to qualify on their own. But these results going on for the Netherlands have ensured them a place in the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup.

T20 World Cup 2024 is going to be a world cup of 20 teams. The top eight performing teams from the T20 World Cup 2022 along with hosts USA and West Indies will directly qualify for the 2024 event. As of 14 November 2022, two other teams will directly qualify based on the ICC team rankings. The remaining 8 teams are being decided by the regional qualifier events.

In the current World Cup, India, England, New Zealand and Pakistan have reached the semi-finals. India will take on England on November 10, while the Blackcaps will face Pakistan on November 9
