Taapsee Pannu is totally against the notion that women cannot be muscular: ‘Having strong muscles is not a right for men’. Hindi Movie News – Bollywood – Times of India

Taapsee Pannu, who had to gear up for her recently released sports drama, has said that she is against the notion that only men can have a muscular body. The actress was earlier called ‘man’s body’ by a netizen. Even then, Taapsee had kept her reaction ready and she did not even have to stoop to the level of troll. Replying to the tweet, Taapsee wrote, ‘That’s all I will say… just remember this line and wait for 23rd september 🙂 and push me thank you, I have worked really hard for this compliment.’ Once again, speaking candidly about the extreme misconceptions of the society about fitness and women, the actress while talking to a news agency said and we are quoted as saying, ‘Unfortunately, women’s fitness is still a matter of concern. There is a conservative approach. this is very sad. Who made the rule that women cannot have muscles?’ Sharing her experience, the actress said, ‘I find this to be a big myth that we all must have heard and probably in the beginning when I was trying to lose weight at one point in life, I also I had heard that ‘just do cardio and don’t do weightlifting’. I heeded that stupid advice because I didn’t know anything better and at that time I wasn’t open-minded enough to question it, but slowly over time I realized it was absolutely wrong. ‘ Taapsee then asked, ‘Why do people put so much emphasis on a particular type of body? A woman’s body will not become a man’s body after building up muscles. It will still be a woman’s body because it is shaped in a different way. I really find this type of stereotyping to be baseless. I want this notion to be broken because having strong muscles is not a man’s right. Period.’ She also opened up about receiving criticism for her recent physical transformation and quite rightly said, ‘If I pictured a bikini, people would be stunned at my look. There will be comments like ‘what body’, ‘so hot’. For me, the body that deserves appreciation is the one that has been worked hard.’
