Taiwan: China ‘won’t hesitate to start war’ on Taiwan, Beijing tells US – Times of India

Singapore: Beijing “won’t hesitate to start a war” if Taiwan Declaring independence, China’s defense minister warned his US counterpart on Friday in the pair’s first face-to-face conversation, officials said.

According to the Chinese Defense Ministry, the Chinese minister also vowed that Beijing would “crush any ‘Taiwan independence’ conspiracy and firmly uphold the reunification of the homeland”.
“He insists that Taiwan is China’s Taiwan… Using Taiwan to control China will never prevail,” the ministry said.
The US Defense Department said Austin told his Chinese counterpart during talks in Singapore that Beijing should “avoid further destabilizing actions towards Taiwan”.
Taiwan, a self-governing, democratic island, remains under constant threat of invasion by China. Beijing views the island as its own territory and has vowed to seize it by force one day if necessary.
