Taj Mahal: Hearing begins today in Allahabad High Court on the demand to open 22 closed doors

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Thursday began hearing a plea seeking opening of 22 closed doors at the Taj Mahal.

BJP youth media in-charge Rajneesh Singh had filed a petition before the Lucknow bench, seeking a direction to the Archaeological Survey of India to examine the 22 locked doors in the Taj Mahal so that the presence of idols of Hindu gods and goddesses could be ascertained. . ,

The petition sought constitution of a fact finding committee and submission of a report by the ASI.

The petition also cited claims of the monument being an old Shiva temple by some historians and some Hindu groups.

“Some Hindu groups and eminent saints are claiming this monument as an old Shiva temple supported by many historians and facts, although many historians regard it as the Taj Mahal because it was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. also believe that Tejo Mahal @ Tajmahal appears to be one of the Jyotirlinga i.e. excellent Shiva temples,” the petition states.

However, the petitioner has claimed that the Center has refused to give details about restrictions within the heritage site managed by the Archaeological Survey of India in Agra.

“I am sure the High Court will decide on the petition soon,” he said.
