“This is a positive step. This humanitarian aid is for the people of Afghanistan for which we are grateful to the Indian government. We are looking forward to reaching an agreement with India and supplying wheat to Afghanistan,” said Taliban designated UN ambassador Suhail Shaheen. The Taliban had earlier also welcomed India’s offer to supply wheat to Kabul through the land border with Pakistan, saying Afghanistan was passing through a critical time. Asked about the possibility of Indian diplomats returning to Afghanistan, Shaheen had said that the Taliban is ready to welcome all diplomats and is committed to providing security for their routine diplomatic work.
