Tamil director N Lingusamy has been sentenced to six months in jail.

Lingusamy also released a statement regarding the verdict on Twitter and said that he would seek justice from the High Court.

Tamil filmmaker N Lingusamy is known for his hit films like Anandam, Run, Paiyaa and Sandhagojagi. A Chennai court on Thursday sentenced him to six months in jail in a check fraud case.

After the verdict, Lingusamy also issued a statement regarding the verdict on Twitter and said that he would seek justice from the High Court.

His statement, which is in Tamil, translated to, “The dispute is between PVP Capitals and our production house Thirupathy Brothers Film Media Pvt. Ltd. The Hon’ble Court has given its verdict today on the petition filed by them. We will appeal against this order and Will face the issue legally.”

In 2022, PVP Capital filed a case against Lingusamy and his brother N Subhash Chandra Bose in a check bounce case of Rs 1.03 crore.

As per reports, the brothers had borrowed money from financial firm PVP Capital Ltd in 2014; But when he tried to repay the loan, his check bounced, following which the firm filed a case against him. Both the brothers own the production house, Thirupathi Brothers.

Subsequently, a metropolitan magistrate court in Saidapet, Chennai, sentenced Lingusamy to six months’ imprisonment in the case. The order was issued on August 22 last year, but Lingusamy filed an appeal. The Madras Principal Sessions Court on 12 April upheld the 6-month jail sentence awarded by the Saidapet court.

It is worth noting that the last few years have been very troublesome for Lingusamy as his productions did not do well at the box office and he faced financial problems.

N. Lingusamy’s last directorial venture was the bilingual film Warrior with Telugu actor Ram Pothineni. The film was a commercial and critical debacle. Kriti Shetty played the leading lady in the film.
