Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin turns 70, DMK celebrates

DMK President and Chief Minister MK Stalin turned 70 on Wednesday and his party and supporters across Tamil Nadu are celebrating his birthday with fervour.

Mr Stalin cut a cake and laid wreaths at the mausoleums of former Chief Ministers M Karunanidhi and CN Annadurai at Marina Beachfront and visited the memorial of reformist leader Periyar EV Ramasamy here and paid floral tributes.

‘Dravid Nayak’ which means ‘Dravidian Hero’ and Dravida Perarasar (Great Dravidian Emperor) and ‘Dravidian Model Chief Minister’ are among the favorite words used by the DMK and Mr Stalin’s admirers to welcome him on his birthday.

A huge public meeting is to be organized by the ruling party here this evening and senior political leaders including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge are set to participate in it.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, Bihar Deputy CM and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav will participate.

Mr Stalin will be felicitated by leaders and DMK general secretary Duraimurugan and treasurer TR Balu are among party leaders who will be present at the YMCA ground here to felicitate the party chief.

A large number of party workers are sure to participate in the public meeting here.
