Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday made 13 announcements, including an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Tamil Nadu government employees and an increase in the retirement age of cooks and assistant cooks at nutritious food centres. Recalling the announcement made in the budget that the increase in DA would be implemented from April, 2022, Mr. Stalin said that even though the government was facing a severe financial burden, it decided to make the increase effective from January next year. had decided. This will benefit 16 lakh government employees and its early implementation will cost an additional ₹1,620 crore. It will cost ₹6,480 crore every year.

The Chief Minister said that the retirement age of cooks and cooking assistants of Nutritious Food Center would be increased from 58 to 60 and this would benefit 29,147 cooks and 24,576 assistants.

He made another announcement, which was for the revival of bonus increment for government employees with additional qualifications. This plan was canceled in 2020. “It will be implemented based on the guidelines issued by the central government. they will increase [the employees’] Performance and skill,” Mr Stalin said.

The CM also announced the recruitment of Junior Assistants to fill vacancies in government schools. They will be recruited by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).

Mr Stalin said the government had decided to treat the period of strike and suspension faced by government employees during the protests against the AIADMK government in 2016, 2017 and 2019 as working hours. “The practice of suspending employees on the day of retirement will continue. Can be avoided,” he reiterated.

Regarding the request for appointment of teachers who had worked before the transfers due to their involvement in the strike, the Chief Minister said that the disciplinary action against them would be dropped and they would be given priority in counseling for transfers.

The Government has also decided to bring out guidelines for appointment on compassionate grounds to the family members of deceased Government servants to remove practical difficulties.

The Chief Minister said that there would be no age limit to include sons and daughters dependent on government employees in the health insurance scheme. “A separate help desk will be set up to help government employees avail the benefits of the insurance scheme,” he said. In addition, the insurance limit for government employees for COVID-19 treatment will be more than ₹10 lakh.

Stalin said that the employees of the Treasury and Accounts Department would get training to handle the tasks related to Integrated Financial and Human Resource Management System (IFHRMS) effectively and quickly. Newly recruited government employees need not visit the Civil Services Training Institute at Bhawanisagar. Instead, they will be trained in the districts where they are posted and this will help them to join the work without any delay.

The Chief Minister also announced the appointment of teachers in proportion to the number of students as the admission of students in government schools had increased.
