Tamil Nadu CM Stalin is right to ask for governor Ravi’s removal: Kapil Sibal

Amid the political tussle in Tamil Nadu, Congress leader Kapil Sibal pointed out that Chief Minister MK Stalin is right to ask for Governor RN Ravi’s removal from his post. This comes a days after, Tamil Nadu CM, in a 15-page letter to President Droupadi Murmu, said that Ravi’s various activities shows he is not fit to be a Governor.

Sibal on Monday said in a tweet, Ambedkar on Governors :“..said functionary..a purely ornamental functionary.. no power of interference in administration..”

He went on to add Governors in opposition ruled states have Hindutva agenda. They destabilise & interfere and incite hate

‘Stalin is right to ask for Ravi’s removal,’ the senior Congress leader adds.

Governor Ravi are against the people of Tamil Nadu: Stalin

On Sunday, in his letter to the President, CM Stalin said that the activities of Governor Ravi are against the people of Tamil Nadu and the elected Government.

“Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi’s various activities show he is not fit to be a Governor. Governor R N Ravi unnecessarily delays in giving a nod to bills that are passed in Tamil Nadu Assembly. Governor is also not giving permission to sanction cases against former AIADMK Ministers who are all charged with corruption irrespective of documents sent by the State Government to Raj Bhavan. Governor acts like an enemy to people elected State Government Policies and ideology.”

He further stated that the Governor did a major violation of the Constitution by sacking Senthil Balaji from the Cabinet.

“Governor also involves in the police investigation and supports the accused. Governor R N Ravi said there was no child marriage held at Chidambaram Natarajar temple whereas later Child marriage video got released and made Governor’s comments as false. Likewise, the Governor did a big violation of the Constitution by sacking Senthil Balaji from the cabinet and later he put that on ‘abeyance'”, the letter stated.

Stalin wrote this letter on July 8 the day on which Governor RN Ravi met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Delhi where Raj Bhavan mentioned that as a “purposeful meeting”.

Tussle between CM Stalin and Governor

Ravi has engaged in a contentious battle with the ruling DMK party over various matters, notably the anti-NEET bill. However, tensions escalated following the arrest of Balaji by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for alleged involvement in a cash-for-jobs scandal. Ravi took a bold step by initially dismissing Balaji from the council of ministers, only to place the decision on hold shortly afterward. The DMK party claimed that Ravi’s action was influenced by advice from the Union Home Ministry.
